| I have worked in the
publishing industry since 1988 as an editor of business management topics, computer-related technical material, and other nonfiction. As a freelancer, I have copyedited several books for leading publishing companies, including Addison-Wesley, Harvard Business Press (formerly Harvard Business School Press), O'Reilly & Associates, Prentice Hall PTR, and Sybex. I have also completed projects for several corporate clients, including management consultants, software developers, application service providers, IT staffing service providers, and courseware developers. Previously, as a full-time employee, I was the managing editor of two trade magazines for the computer industry: Enterprise Systems Journal, for IBM enterprise systems customers, and Unisphere, for Unisys IT customers. I edited articles on a wide range of technical topics. In addition, for several years I developed system software and application software. That experience enabled me to understand software from the perspective of both the developer and the end user. I specialized in ease-of-use interfaces and online help systems, and developed detailed user documentation. I also have experience in editing technical documents written by authors whose native language is not English.
